Colourpop is one of those weird brands that if you're into the online beauty community everyone knows about it, but the general population has never heard of it. I have super mixed feelings towards the brand. They came into existence, sent every beauty blogger on the planet their products and suddenly blew up. When I first tried their products I made a video about them (watch
here) and have since ordered a few more times but my feelings towards their super shock shadows and "lippie" products remain the same. Since I've had decent luck with their lip products I was excited for their liquid lipstick release. I was on the website as they released but was still unable to get a hold of them as their site kept crashing, thus I had to wait for their re-release in August. One thing you need to understand before ordering, their shipping sucks. Despite them being based in LA they take at least 2 weeks to ship to me every single time I've ordered and even longer if there's been a new release. They are cruelty free and most of their products are vegan (list of non-vegan items
here) so that's a huge selling point to me.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Tulle |
I currently own 6 out of the 33 shades Colourpop have released of their Ultra Matte Lips. They have a massive selection of colours ranging from wearable everyday nudes to vibrant blues. I decided to stick to the shades that I wear most in my daily life which are nudes and brown based colours. These retail for only $6 USD and I believe they only ship to America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and U.S. territories but they say they plan on expanding that. This is a very thin formula that allows you enough time to work with it before it dries, which is great because you only get one shot at an even application. The way I go about it is start at the corner of my bottom lip and tackle it in thirds. I try to get a thin even application in the left corner of my bottom lip, middle, then right before creating a solid crisp line to make sure it's carved out. I stretch my mouth throughout this process to make sure the product gets into every line. I use whatever is left on the wand to cover my top lip in a similar fashion. This isn't a product that can be layered. These stay on your lips forever and don't feel overly drying as long as you have a moisturizing base on beforehand. The only issue I've had with the wear is when I eat or drink. If I'm eating anything oily the product will disappear from the inside of my lips but remain untouched on the outside. Drinking is a little different; these re-liquefy if they become wet, as do most liquid lipsticks. As long as you're careful you'll be fine but if you decide to be haphazard with your beverages you'll end up with a mess on your hands. I've gone on plenty of coffee dates wearing these coming out the same way as I did when I went in.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips (left to right) Limbo, Tulle, Bumble, Solow, Trap and Midi |
|
I'm a fan of all of these colours. they dry super matte on the lips and pack plenty of pigment. Tulle is the only shade out of all the Ultra Matte Lips that isn't vegan, but it is my favourite. All of the shades are very true to the arm swatches above. If you do manage to mess these up throughout the day it'll be an issue as these can't be easily reapplied. They have to be fully removed rather than touched up, which is honestly quite the feat. I can get these off with makeup wipes if I go over them a few times but an oil makeup remover really works the best. The difficulty removing them is why I didn't swatch all of them on my lips, but there's so many lip swatches out there so if that's what you want they're not hard to find. Overall I really enjoy these and plan on purchasing more. I'm thinking of picking up one of their newer shades like Dr. M (dark green) or Be-Dazz;led (bright purple) to play around with.
