COLOURPOP CREME GEL EYELINERS | REVIEW

Colourpop is constantly pumping out m products. I feel like every few weeks they have something new on their site. I purchased their liners as soon as they released and they've already come out with a new line since. I went with a matte and metallic shade in each format to test them out before placing a huge order. They offer a Creme Gel Colour ($6) which is in a pot and a Creme Gel Liner ($5) retractable eyeliner pencil version of every shade so you're able to buy whatever your preference is. I was pleased to find that the liners had the same feeling as a classic gel liner rather than the spongy feel of their Super Shock products. They currently offer 24 shades of which 3 (Boots, Piggy Bank and Puppy) are not recommended for the eye area. All liners are cruelty-free but four of the shades (Call Me, Best O, No Shame and DTLA) are not vegan.

(Left to Right) Crybaby, Show Me, Dirty Talk, Zulu

Colourpop Creme Gel Colour in Zulu
This colour was the reason I couldn't wait for these to come out. It's a beautiful bright minty blue with a matte finish and very subtle blue glitter that isn't really detected on the eyes. It goes on quite opaque and creamy. I don't know if I got a dud of this one or if the formulation is really this bad. It cracked and crumbled on my lids and it was impossible to layer. If I tried going over the line in a spot again all of the product would be removed. I feel the need to note that I did receive both Creme Gel Colour pots with the lids not screwed on properly. This shade's lid was the worst of the two and it took about a half hour to loosen enough to open. It's possible that too much air got into the product thus affecting the formula.

To my surprise this has ended up being my favourite of the bunch. It's a beautiful metallic light gold that really brightened up my eyes. Once again it went on opaque and creamy but without any of the cracking or flaking Zulu had. This wore well on the lids and stayed in place all day. I really can't fault it in any way. It's everything I could ask for in a gel liner and it's at a great price.

I have similar colours to this one in my collection but this has the best vibrancy on the eyes and offers the most precision. It's a metallic copper that reflects a lot of light. I didn't experience any transfer with these pencils but you do need to be careful not to twist them up too far or they'll break. I had no problems with the application of this one. It was opaque with full intensity without having to build it up and went on smoothly. I did find it lost some vibrancy after 5-6 hours.

Show Me Creme Gel Liner

I'll admit, the name suckered me into this purchase. I do enjoy the pastel lavender shade but it is difficult to wear on the lash line. From far away this comes off looking almost white but on the waterline it's incredibly brightening. It made me look far more awake than any white or nude liner ever has. Once up close you can tell it's a pastel pop of colour. It does take some building up to get the best colour payoff possible from this liner and I would say the wear time is far less than the two metallic shades, but still better than Zulu's Gel Colour was.
