Monthly Faves | August

August has been a very laid back month for me. Most days I decided to slap on BB cream, mascara, brows and leave it at that. When I did put in a little extra effort, I wanted quick easy makeup that still made a statement. These products have been in constant rotation this past month and for good reason.

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation in Porcelain
I feel like everyone's initial reaction to the release of this was the same - finally. I am a huge fan of Hard Candy's Glamoflauge concealer so I had high hopes for this foundation. It's one of the few foundations that I don't have to lighten with a colour corrector because it's already so fair. That alone made me want to love this. It's full coverage and dries to a matte finish. It's meant to be a liquid to powder formula that can be worn with a powder but I would not suggest more than a super light dusting. This product really seems to preform the best when left on it's own otherwise it can start looking a little too heavy. I love this as a quick one-step base for the rest of my makeup.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly
Where has this been all my life? Finally a shade of concealer that's light enough for me (NC10) to use on my under eyes without having to set with a white powder to lighten it. You read that right, white. It's the perfect amount of creaminess and covers well enough for use all over the face. This has quickly become my go-to concealer. Run to your local Sephora and grab a sample, you'll fall in love.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Naked
This beauty buy has been a long time coming. I have beat this shade in my Naked Palette to death. I hit pan ages ago so I started to stray away from it for fear of running out. I went on the hunt for a perfect transition shade for awhile. I wanted something not too warm or too cool and ended up finding it within my own collection. I knew it was time to buy the single. I can use this to blend out just about any shade and the formulation makes it so easy to do so. Lately I've been loving using this all over my lid, blending it up into the crease, smudging a little on the lower lash line and popping on a shimmery brow highlight. It's a really simple look but I've gotten so many compliments on it.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Nude Nuance
This is the lipstick I've been looking for. It's a muted medium dark brown with just the right amount of warmth to it. It's a semi-matte that's super comfortable on this lips and surprisingly long wearing. It's been the perfect lip to add a bit of extra something to my face.

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Tipsy
I ordered this lip pencil along with it's Lippie Stick counterpart thinking it was going to work well for my orange toned lipsticks, but alas it's a brown toned nude. It's one of the combos where the pencils and the sticks look nothing alike. One day I decided to try it with one of my nudes and fell in love. It's super matte and wears well on my lips. I love it underneath other lip products or alone on my lips. It's a surprisingly flattering shade and I ended up loving it on it's way far more than I did paired with the Tipsy Lippie Stick as it's intended.

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub
My lips were in really rough shape at the beginning of August. I had a bad run in with a lip product (I'll be talking about it in an upcoming post) and it left my lips dry, cracking and bruised looking. To say they were in need of some TLC would be an understatement. I'd been using DIY lip scrubs for awhile but they aren't exactly travel friendly. This stuff smells and tastes amazing. It's sweet, salty and highly addicting. As a bonus it's vegan, cruelty-free and from a company I can get behind.

Jack Black Natural Mint Intense Therapy Lip Blam SPF 25
If I could pinpoint what fixed my lips, it would be this. It has so many lovely moisturizing ingredients and despite knowing that the minty feeling is nothing more than a gimmick, I love it. Peppermint lip products have my heart. I've tried a few SPF lip balms but this one is my new favourite. I can't believe how quickly my lips improved when I started using this. By far the best lip balm I've ever tried. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments can suck it.
