MONTHLY FAVES | OCTOBER

October is my favourite month of the year. I'm still reluctant to take my Halloween decorations down because I want it to be spooky season forever. Nothing breaks me out of a makeup funk like Halloween makeup. I just get so inspired and want to play with all sorts of colours. We get to see Holiday collections roll out. October is truly a magical month, but it's gone now. I did play with a lot more products than usual, but there we're some that stood above the rest.

Harvey Prince Sincerely Perfume
Usually I go for heavy musky scents with a little vanilla sweetness so I’ll admit I didn’t think I’d like this. This is the first “day scent” I’ve ever wanted to wear. I attribute that to it containing three of my favourite scents of all time; clove bud, sandalwood and cedarwood. It’s easy to have those overpower all the other notes but they’re well balanced with Japanese orange flower, Moroccan rose, French bergamot and Freesia. It’s light and isn’t too floral, sweet or musky. I’ve never smelled anything like it. Harvey Prince is vegan and as a bonus you can get Mini Rollerball (8.81 ml) for free with the coupon code WEHEARTHP. You do have to pay shipping but you’re still saving $21.

The Balm Cabana Boy Blush
I am such a fan of deeper blushes. I feel like they suit nearly everyone. This has become my every day blush shade. It’s a muted raspberry with golden shimmer that can be sheered out or worn full colour. I don’t notice any of the shimmer on the skin, but it is luminous. If I wear this with a heavier hand it gives me a “I was just out in a snowstorm” look that I’m really into. I feel like anyone with a medium skintone would love this as a natural shade but for my follow ghosts, this is a great for adding a little pop of colour.

Stila Poreless Putty Perfector in Fair
I keep coming back to this product every time I need a foundation that just works and stays beautiful. It’s easy to look at this and go “another cream foundation. I’ll pass.” This isn’t really a cream, it is putty and because of that it reacts differently than most foundations. When you touch it the product moves around, climbing the walls of the packaging and shifting in strange ways. The finish is so skin-like and it has amazing coverage without ever looking cakey. It’s so easy to touch up because it layers well and applies best on the skin with fingers. I don’t need a powder or concealer when I use this. It is pricey for how much product you get but if you use a really stiff brush or you r fingers the product will last a lot longer.

NYX Illuminator in Ritualistic
I already raved about this in my NYX haul post (read here) but I can’t put this highlighter down. Screw Becca Moonstone and Mary Lou-manizer, this is the perfect pale highlight. It’s a white gold that gleams in the light. You can wear this lightly or pack it on and both ways it looks stunning. I can stop looking for something to make me glow because this is it. It makes me look ethereal and I can’t get enough of it. If you’re pale, trust me you need this.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15
This is a great concealer for everything. Not too drying for the undereyes, not too thick with full coverage to easily cover blemishes. I do wish they made a lighter shade but this one works well enough for my skintone. I love the pump packaging as it’s rather rare to find for conealers. I’ve cast aside my Nars and Estee Lauder conealers for this versatile one making my routine a little faster. Undoubtly worth the hype.

 Mac Whirl Lipstick
I feel like everyone has heard of this shade by now. It’s a gorgeous muted rosy brown shade that’s coveted as the “perfect 90s lipstick.” I wear brown toned lipsticks the majority of the time so obviously I needed this. It packs just enough of a punch that it adds a little drama without being full blown vamp queen. I am a fan of Mac’s matte lipstick formula, so if you’re not you probably won’t love this as much as I do but it is still available as a lip liner. It’s been hard to not just wear this every single day and I have a feeling that’s not going to change.
