TOP 15 OF 2015
I feel like 2015 has taken forever to pass. In that time I have found products I might very well use for the rest of my life. This has been one of the best years for beauty for me. I tried to add a little bit of everything to this list. I even put all my top pick in a basket and tried to go without them. Every one of these were out the basket within the first few days.
15. Zoya Nail Polishes
Zoya polishes have my favourite formulation and beautiful colours. I've yet to find a polish of their's I don't like. They have all different finishes but the original is my favourite. They don't go on thick but are opaque on one coat. If I could only have one polish brand in my collection this would be it. (Now through January 13th you can get 4 for $15 on the Zoya website)
14. Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25
Hands down the best lip balm I've ever tried. It heavily moisturizes my lips and feels nourishing without feeling thick. It comes in all different flavours but my personal favourite is natural mint. It keeps my lips soft and protected. It might seem like an odd pick but I use lip balm a ridiculous amount so I take notice.
13. Maybelline Lash Sensational
This has been the star of my lashes all year long. I use this as my base coat as I layer mascaras most days. It separates, lengthens and is my ideal mascara. The brush is curved and turning it gives different looks to the lashes.
12. Mac Pro Longwear Concealer
I've tried so many concealers but I've yet to find any that works as well for everything as this. it doesn't crease underneath my eyes, it's full coverage and works well to cover any blemishes you might have. If you've never tried it I'd say it's a must. This is my go-to for travel. I never have to worry about it once it's on and has yet to fail me.
11. Lush R&B Hair Moisturizer
I didn't know how much I needed this in my life. It smells incredible and helps the look of my hair. Although, it is moisturizing I prefer it as a styling cream. It smells like summer and I miss it every day I skip it. If you have curly hair smooths and defrizzes without loosening the curl. I run it down the shaft of my hair and scrunch up on curly days.
10. NYX Illuminator in Ritualistic
If you're a highlighter fanatic you need this. Becca moonstone doesn't hold a candle to this. It sends your cheekbones to the heavens. It's the most beautiful gleaming white gold highlight I've ever seen. Fair skin folks need this and I do mean need.
9. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick
I've tried so many liquid lipsticks and this is the best. It's soft, velvety and opaque. It wears down with dignity and holds on forever. I don't know how but it makes my lips look fuller. It looks like I have lip injections when I wear this and I don't even overdraw my lips. If you're going to try a liquid lipstick this is the formula to try. It makes me hope Jeffree Star releases more cosmetics because if they're anywhere near the quality of these I'll need all of them.
8. NYX Tinted Brow Mascara
As I've switched up my hair colour this has been a lifesaver. It looks great on natural makeup days just to clean up and shape my brows or to seal off a more sculpted brow day. If you want to lighten up the brows the blonde is fanatic for that and you can deepen them up just as easily.
7. Mac Prep & Prime Fix+
This spray does everything. Wet an eyeshadow to make it more vibrant, set your makeup, prime the skin, turn loose pigments liquid. It does it all. Beyond taking away the powder finish it manages to make my makeup look more natural.
6. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
The top coat to end all top coats. It gives a gel-like finish and helps the polish wear longer. I'm hard on my hands. I don't know how I manage but I can chip my nails in 5 minutes if I don't seal them off with Seche Vite. Since starting using this I haven't looked back.
5. Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++
If BB creams have let you down in the past it's time to give this a try. This is the best face product I've tried. It looks natural, has amazing coverage and is everything I've ever wanted in a BB cream. I can't even look at American BB creams. It has better coverage than a lot of foundations on the market. They have a fair shade selection but #13 is one the palest shade I've ever seen and I love it.
4. As I Am Coconut Cowash
Cowashing has changed my hair for the better. I have curly hair and discovered this cowash when I decided to go natural. There is an adjustment phase but the added moisture and texture is a massive improvement.
3. Versace Crystal Noir Perfume
I'm beyond picky with perfume and this is the perfect scent. I tend to go for heavy woodsy scents but this is the most universal smell I've ever come across. Every time I wear it out I get stopped by strangers and asked what perfume I'm wearing. It was a go to luxury gift this Christmas and a ridiculous amount of people in my life have started wearing this after trying mine out. Half of the amount gone is from others trying it. It's that good. The notes are gardenia, amber, sandalwood, ginger, coconut, vanilla pod, cardamom, peony, African orange flower and pepper. Pop by an Ulta, Sephora or Macy's, give it a sniff and tell me it isn't incredible.
2. Manic Panic Dreamtone
I can't believe I had lived my life up until this point without this product. It's a white colour corrector that lightens up foundation without changing the finish. If you have pale skin or fake tan this is a must.
1. Curology (previously PocketDerm)
This year I focused on skincare and learning about the science behind it. I am going to be posting my full skincare routine but this has made the biggest impact on my skin. It's an acne treatment prescribed to me by a dermatologist over the internet which is pretty amazing. My skin has changed so much this year and a lot of that is due to this product. My prescription is 4% Azelaic Acid 1% Clindamycin and 4% Niacinamide but if you decide to try it I suggest working with your derm and taking their advice for treatment. Never be afraid to ask questions. It's $20 per month which is so affordable compared to most skincare. You can try it out for free for the first month using this link: https://curology.com/invite/ASNXSEH
