KAT VON D LOLITA LIP DUO | REVIEW

I have lusted after Kat Von D's Lolita Everlasting liquid lipstick for awhile now, but there's been so many issues with production that I became weary of what colour I would end up with. So far there's been three formulations and a lot of differing opinions on which should be the true Lolita. Kat Von D was very smart to put out a duo incorporating two popular formulations. As of right now only Lolita is available to purchase in the full size, but Lolita II is said to be releasing in full at some point. This is a limited edition set selling for $19.50 which is only $0.50 less than a full size Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. It was originally only being sold on Sephora online, but has since been removed. It can now be purchased from the Kat Von D Beauty website or in stores at Sephora as of 11/06/15.  Each lipstick is 0.10 oz, about half of the full size.

Formula:
I love the way these feel on the lips. They're comfortable, thin and velvety. I would compare them to NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, which are my favourite lip product of all time. These do last longer than NYX but wear down with the same amount of dignity. They are matte liquid lipsticks that go on opaque and set to a matte finish without settling in lip lines and leaving you with the oh so attractive look of desert mouth. They aren't hydrating but they do feel quite nice. I adore their smell, it reminds me of hard caramel candies. Although there isn't transfer, I wouldn't call these kiss proof. You could probably give your grandma a light peck on the cheek but anything more and they might wear down some. By no stretch of the imagination can they last through a meal. A few bites in you'll have no lip product left. These may sound like negatives but I think they're more practical. I personally would reapply after eating than have a ring of bare lip exposed. This is one of my favourite liquid lipstick formulas and believe me I've tried more than a few.

Lolita:
This is described as a "chestnut rose." On me it's a dark dusty rose that leans quite purple. It's not too dark to wear as a casual every day colour, but it does add a little something more to the face than a nude would. If you're looking to get into deeper fall shades but aren't sure if you're comfortable with it this is perfect for you.

Lolita II:
This is described as a "terra cotta nude" which is quite fitting. It's a dusky terra cotta shade that is flattering on so many skintones. It still has the hint of rose but it pulls warmer and more orange with just enough nude pink to balance it out. I love this shade so much. It's the closest thing out right now to the original Lolita formulation I fell in love with.
